Let's Celebrate World Water Day!

World Water Day

Today is World Water Day! Did you know that the average person in the United States uses 80-100 gallons of water per day? As our country’s population rapidly increases over time, so does the amount of water we consume. To ensure that our nation does not undergo water shortages in the future, we must all work to decrease our water footprint. Our water footprint is “the amount of water used in the production or supply of the goods and services that we utilize.” Reducing your water footprint can be quite easy and simple, and yet it can make a world of difference. Literally.

  1. Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth. This simple task can save 6 liters of water per minute. When you think about the frequency of your brushing routine, you are conserving a lot of water with little effort.

  2. Decrease the amount of time you spend in the shower. The average American uses up to 65 liters of water in one shower. If you have a family of four, that is 260 liters of water being used a day! While there is nothing more relaxing than a hot shower after a long day, you should really try to reduce your shower time. It not only preserves our nation’s clean water supply, but it also can significantly decrease your water bill. You also can install an aerated showerhead. It combines water and air, utilizing less water flow.

  3. Wash clothes and towels in full loads, and the same goes for dishes. Try to only run your washing machine or dishwasher when it is full. If you need to wash your whites or colors separately, ask your whole family to toss in their whites or colors too. This way you are not wasting water to wash only two or three items, instead you are washing an entire load.

  4. If you find a leak, fix it as soon as possible. Don’t let a leaking faucet drip for days. Fix it as soon as you notice it, or hire a plumber to come fix it for you. It will not only save you money on your water bill, but it will also prevent all that water from being wasted!

  5. Hire us for our waste water hauling service! We collect and treat waste water from food manufacturers, and then recycle the water. Our professionals collect the waste water at your site and then dispose of it properly at a licensed water treatment plant. The water is treated and is ultimately returned to the water supply once it is recycled. This process conserves water that would have otherwise been taken completely out of the water supply. We will work with your organization to create a complete waste water management strategy. Call us today at 800-473-2733 to get started!
