Restaurant Plumbing Problems & How to Prevent Them

Plumbing

As a restaurant owner, you know how big of a nightmare a plumbing problem can be to your business. Luckily for you, there are ways to prevent plumbing problems from occurring in your restaurant. And in the unfortunate event of a plumbing issue, we offer 24/7 emergency services to get your business back up and running in no time!

A clogged drain is very common in restaurant kitchens. On busy shifts, the dirty dishes are stacked high in your kitchen and the industrial-sized sink is getting put to good use. It is important that your dishwashers know to never use the sink’s drain as a disposal for food. They also need to know that they should never pour fats, oils or grease (FOG) down the drain. These oils solidify in the pipes and trap food particles, eventually clogging the drain.

You also need an emergency winter kit to keep in your car. You can prepare this kit yourself, or you can purchase one.

It is the most wonderful time of the year! The holiday season is upon us, which for restaurant owners means a time when business is booming. If you do not properly prepare, these next two months will be hectic and stressful. However, if you take the time to develop an organized plan of action, you can conquer the rush with ease and holiday cheer:

Hire Help
The holiday season unfortunately falls on the calendar the same time as flu and cold season. If one of your workers calls in sick, you want to be able to call in a replacement to take their place for his or her shift. It is also a good idea to have extra staff working on your notoriously busy shifts, such as the weekend. Take the time to carefully evaluate your staff, and hire help where it is needed. A great way to fill gaps in your team temporarily is to reach out to previous employees that left for college and will be returning home for the holidays.
